PHILOSOPHY & FOUNDATION

Drawing on career experience working closely with older adults and their families, and, of course, through personal experience, Mom, Dad...Can We Talk? was written with a specific philosophy and foundation in mind for providing aging parents support:

• Being in service to older persons enriches our lives and makes us better persons.

• The best support for aging parents stems from when we communicate, share and learn from each other.

• The primacy of the family – big, small, close knit or fractured – holds the potential for positive outcomes, regardless.

• Adult children must learn to stop and think, to evaluate and anticipate, to communicate, navigate and, yes, celebrate the final years of the parent-child relationship. No regrets.

With these building blocks in place, Mom, Dad...Can We Talk? along with speaking engagements become the tools used to offer reassurance to adult children trying to provide the best possible support for their aging parents.
